4:164 -Do We Need A Plan B?
#faithbites #faithjourney Plan
Setting
My brain is always running. As long as I have been alive, I’ve always had at least a plan B if not a C or D. I’ve thought through what happens if I got a divorce, my family died, I lost my job, I got deathly ill, I lost my church, and the list goes on. This isn’t the normal, “let’s have a will or advanced directive”, these are thoughts that constantly run in my head. Add to that all of the daily tasks that are needed, and it’s exhausting. While having a plan is nice, if it’s always running through your head you lose out on the to enjoy the life you are leading today.
This morning, I was thinking about why I do that. Is it because I need to control? Is it me taking away some of God’s power as I know he has plans for me? I don’t know. I’m trying to live in today and let Plan B/C/D go. Just let it go!
Today’s Questions: Do you trust God’s plan for you? Do you have a plan B/C/D? If so, how does that impact your life? How can we, as believers, turn it to God and not worry about all the possibilities that may arise in life.
Scripture
- Jerimiah 29:10-14 – 10 This is what the Lord says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place. 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”
- Romans 8:14-17 – For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.[a] And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Reflection
The crazy thing about this #faithbites, is that our sermon today what God Meant when he said it, and today’s is on the Plans God has for us. (Jerimiah 29:11)This is part of God’s plan. God had a plan from the beginning. God had a plan B when he saw our sinful nature separate us from him back in the Garden of Eden: Jesus. Some would say, that God knew it would happen as Jesus was with him at the beginning. That even God didn’t have a plan B, Jesus was part of his plan A!.
If God has our back, if God has plans for us to help us, why do we need a plan B? Yes, we need to plan for the future through him, but we make it and work it. We don’t have to live in the unknown or the future possibilities all the time. If something happens, God will help us. If we falter and make mistakes, Jesus will forgive us. When we need strength, the Holy Spirit will provide it on our.
As we close, all we need to do is pray to God and seek him out. He will make himself known and will answer our prayers in his way, by his will, and at his time. God, our father, will never let his children be without a plan. So having an understanding of what God wants for you is great, we just don’t ‘need to constantly cycle in our heads all the possibilities that could happen. God is there and will protect us and guide us.
Prayer
Father God, you tell us you have plans for us. Often we try to make a plan B/C/D/E just in case. Some see this as a lack of faith in you. Help us to focus that you have plans for us and those plans will not harm us. Let us just let it go and truly, 100%, fully commit to you and your way. We ask you to take away our anxieties, fear, and uneasiness as we continue into the unknown. While it is unknown to us, you are already there. We pray all of this in your name, Amen.
