6/9 – How do others identify you?
5:160 – How do others identify you?

#faithbites #faithjourney identify

Intro

Yesterday we talked about the various identities each one of us have.. Some are visible, easily seen, and others don’t surface unless we share them. When you interact with people which identity makes their first impression of you?

I also wonder what people think when they see me? Is it a kind person? A large, white man? A child of God? What about you?

Questions
  • How do you identify yourself? How do others identify you?.
  • Is what you’re putting out into the universe what you want to put out?
  • Are you being authentic?
Scripture
  • 2 Timothy 2:15 – Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
Reflection

Normally, we share multiple verses in #faithbites. Today, we only share one. The reason is 2 Timothy 2:15 says everything we need to know about how we identify. If we behave as he wants us to, and present ourselves in his image, then all other actions fall into place. We can’t be anything other than who we are. He made us and when we identify as children of God, others see that. It’s not up to us to determine how others see us, we will only lose that battle. If we act as children of God, because that is who we are, then our outward identity matches how we identify.

As we close, remember, we don’t need to put on a mask or be someone else. Be who God. Made you to be.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, the world is full of labels and identities. We know that our identity in you is all we need. Often, we try to show how we change our outward appearance or actions to force others to accept us. The thing is, nothing we do, can change someone else’s opinion of us. We are who we are and need to focus on your love for us. Lord, help us be authentic in all things and not worry about how others see us. We pray this in your name, Amen.
