3/6 – Stop Pleading, It’s Already Been Decided

5:65 – Stop Pleading, It’s Already Been Decided

#faithbites #faithjourney pleading

Intro

“Dad, can I xyz?”

“No, and here’s why….”

“But dad, I want xyz”.

“No, and here’s why….”

I ddon’t know about you, but my kids have been pleading everything all week. No onlynkeans maybe not. They just keep pleading. I’m getting. Etter at sticking to my guns no matter the amount of pleading, but it’s exhausting.

Some plead for God’s mercy, when things are bad. The plead for him to forgive their sins or for a different outcome. Here’s the thing, we don’t need to plead or beg. God has already decided and forgiven all of our sins. We just need to ask, no pleading necessary.

Questions
  • Have you ever pleaded to God for something? If so, what was it?
  • When you look back at it, was it something that God already said he would do or forgive?
Scripture
  • Isaiah 41:10 – 10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
  • Deuteronomy 31:88 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
  • 1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
  • Isaiah 1:18 – Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
Reflection

God hhas promised to never leave you, to forgive all sins, to uphold you, and to be with you until the very end of the age. There is no sin he won’t forgive and no pray he won’t answer. He may answer it in another way or another time, but he does answer it. We don’t need to plead with God.

My kids think that if they plead long enough, I will change my mind. Sometimes I break, but God doesn’t. He has. Made plans for you, plans not to harm you. We just need to ask, no pleading required.

As we close, remember that God loves you, has made promises to you, and will never break them.

Prayer

Fathwr GGod, thank you for your promises, for your love, and for your forgiveness. Sometimes we think we need to plead with you or make deals with you. You’ve told us that all we have to do is ask and we shall recieve it. Thank you for bek g the father who loves and answers our prayers. Amen..
