5:22b – Leadership Is Hard

#faithbites #faithjourney leadership

Intro

I have always wanted to lead. I think I have skills and abilities that help groups move forward. Not sure why, but leadership and being in leadership positions come naturally to me. Lately, especially after yesterday’s events, I question that. I have always had imposter syndrome, that I’m not good enough to be in a position and I’m struggling a bit. Being a leader, means your choices can affect many people’s lives, even your own. Sometimes though, things are out of your hands. A test of a great leader is recognizing when it’s one of those things vs something you can control.

Questions
  • As a leader, when do you accept the fault for something not happening and when is it due ot causes outside of your control?
  • When are you being a leader with taking responsiblity vs being a marytr?
  • How does God help us to be better leaders?
Scripture

1 Chronicles 16:11 – Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually!

Reflection

Normally, I share 3-5 verses to help bring the point of #faithbites home. Today, I am sharing one: 1 Chronicles 16:11. Leadership is hard, there is no way around that. There are many right and many wrong answers. As much as someone tries to make you believe, there is no perfect guide to being a leader. I did an Amazon search for “Leadership Books” and got over 60,000 results. If there was an easy way to do it, do you think we’d have this many books?

The best advice is clearly in our verse: Seek the Lord and His Strength. Seek His presence continually. That’s it. We can’t do it on our own. He will tell us when we should take fault when we should let it go, and he makes sure we are in the position we should be in. It’s not easy, and heck, I’m struggling right now, but it’s the way to peace and comfort.

As we close, remember you are not alone. You will make mistakes and can be forgiven. Through Christ, you will improve your leadership skills and know when things are in your wheelhouse and when you just need to turn it over to God.

Prayer

Father God, we pray for your guidance in becoming better leaders. Let us lose the guilt from past mistakes. Help us to let go of things that aren’t our mistakes to begin with. Lord. let us let go of those things outside of our power and trust you. We pray this in your great name, Amen.
