January 9 – God Reminds You

5:9 – God Reminds You

#faithbites #faithjourney reminds

Intro

I was just about asleep when I realized I hadn’t written my #faithbites today. I almost allowed myself to just go to sleep, but I figured, there was a reason for this. I sent a message to my best friend telling him what happened and he said that’s God reminding me to do it.

Sometimes odd things happen and we think they are odd. But, as a Pastor once told me, “It’s Not Odd, It’s God“. God reminds us when we are off course, when we need to do something, or when we need to take better care of ourselves. We just need to be listening, when he reminds us.

Questions
  • What does it look and sound like when God is reminding you to do something?
  • How do you respond?
  • If you don’t listen, what happens?
Scripture
  • 2 Peter 1:12 – Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you.
  • 2 Peter 3:1-2 – This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles.
Reflection

We aall need reminders now and again. Peter, reminds us of God’s teaching through his letters. God gave the Israelities a sign of his covenant with them. The Bible is filled with ways that God reminss of us what we need to do. Too often, we just ignore him and go on our way. I thought what would have happened if I didn’t wake up to write this? Probably nothing. No one would have said anything, but it would have eaten at me for unconsciously breaking a four year plus streak. So I listened.

As we close, remember that we need to listen to God’s voice, not our own, and make sure to pay special attention to his reminders. Sometimes they may be subtle, but they are there.

Prayer

LordGod, thank you for reminding me to write this message and share your word. We pray that we can always hear your voice, especially through the noise of our lives, and listen to the subtle and not so subtle reminders. We pray this in your name, Amen.
