4:360 – Just Keep Working At It

#faithbites #faithjourney working

Setting

Some days, we just feel like everything is going wrong. We are mad at the world and mad at ourselves for how we react to being mad at the world. It’s a vicious cycle. During those times, we just want to throw in the towel and be done with it. It’s at that moment when we need to turn to God, ask for help, and keep working at it. We may have to try it in a different way or a new approach, but we are still working at it and making progress. That’s what’s important.

Today’s Questions: What do you do when you want to give up? How do you treat yourself when you are mad at yourself for the way you treated others? How can you keep going when it seems to be too much?

Scripture
  • James 1:12 – Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
  • Galatians 6:9 – And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
  • 1 Chronicles 16:11 – Seek theĀ LordĀ and his strength; seek his presence continually!
Reflection

Life was never supposed to be easy. (Well, maybe f you think about original sin and Adam and Eve, but I digress). Things will be hard and we will struggle. God tells us that if we remain steadfast and keep working at it, we will be rewarded with eternal life. That doesn’t mean things will be perfect on earth, but we know that we are winning the race because of our faith. Finally, God tells us to seek him for strength. There have been many times n my life, when I have felt like giving up. Heck, I got down on my knees in tears recently just asking God to make my path clear, and he did. It’s not perfect now and I have a track to follow.

As we close, remember to keep working, keep seeking help, keep trying new things. Don’t give up. And never forget that God has your back, your front, and your sides. Seek him out.

Prayer

Lord God, thank you for giving us the desire to improve and be better humans. Help us to seek your guidance to keep working at it, even when we fail. And when new do fail, please forgive us, and warm the hearts of those who we hurt to forgive us. We want to be creatures of love and know that through you, and your forgiveness, we will get there. We pray this in your name, Amen.
