December 20 – Made Right By Faith

4:354 – Made Right By Faith

#faithbites #faithjourney made

Setting

This picture was shared by a friend who just suffered a devastating loss. While she may be shaken her faith never waivers. I shared a devotion at school for three classes about the true meaning of Christmas. That while the Grinch or the devil may steal, kill, and destroy, we still have faith. After the devotional, a second grader came up and asked me what happens if your house burns down, your family dies, and you are alone. That hit hard. I explained a little bit about Job and his faith. That satisfied her and she had a good day. It’s still hard when things are just not OK here in earth.

Today’s Questions : What do you do when things are looking down and it feels like the theif is winning? How are you made OK through faith even when things aren’t OK?

Scripture
  • Ephesians 2:8-9 – For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
  • Acts 16:31 – They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
  • Mark 16:16 – He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.
Reflection

We are saved by faith not by anything we do. The world may crash around us but we are still saved. God will never forget us or let us go. It may feel that the waves are crashing in on us but through faith we are made OK. There is always a tomorrow for us. This tomorrow may not be in earth but a forever tomorrow in heaven. That is God’s promise made full through Jesus Christ.

As we close, let’s remember those who are not OK right now and that while faith won’t make every OK, it will make you OK through God.

Prayer

Lord God, so many are hurt, wounded, and in need of your love, compassion, and care. Lord, please wrap your arms around them and put a hedge of protection to shield them from any more pain. We ask that you strengthen all of our faith and keep us right in your eyes and away from evil. You’ve told us life will be hard when we folw you, but through faith nothing can take us away. Help us always to remember that. In your name, we pray, Amen.
