November 17 – I’m Awesome AND Messed Up

4:321 – I’m Awesome AND Messed Up

#faithbites #faithjourney messed

Setting

I often tell how messed up I am. When people compliment me, I deflect and either compliment them or say all the things that I could have done better. Last night, my mother said how great I’m doing and how functioning I am despite my mental health. My response was you dont see me at my lows. Here’s the fact. I’m a pretty awesome person AND I’m messed up (imperfect is another word). The and is important. All my issues don’t stop me from being good, their are just another piece of me.

God made us as wonderful unique creatures. We have strength and weaknesses. It doesn’t make us any less good, rather it gives us areas that other’s can help us grow.

Today’s Questions: How do you change the but in your sentences to an and? How can you accept all the parts of you that God gave you?

Scripture

2 Corinthians 12:9 – But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

Reflection

There it is in black and white. God’s grace is sufficient for us. His power is made perfect in our weakness. He shows how He can take broken people and use them to change the world. God made us blessed children. We are imperfect through Sin but through Christ we are made white and pure as snow.

As we close, remember to never let your problems stop you from realzing how awesome you are through God. There is no but in you but an AND. You are more than the sum of your parts. You are a blessed and loved child of God.

Prayer

Lord God, thank you for making us your children. Thank you for reminding us that we are loved and blessed. Lord we pray that yoi help us stop seeing us as having good and broken parts. Instead, help us focus on seeing ourselves as you do. Blessed, awesome, and whole. Thank you for sending your Son to forgive our sins and let us reconnect with you. We pray all this in your name, Amen.
