Look up to the light.

4:331 – Don’t Forget to Look Up!

Setting

It’s autumn. The nights are longer and the days are shorter. The other day, my dog had me up early and we were taking a walk in the cold. As usual, I was looking ahead to see where I was going and down so I don’t trip. (I’m clumsy). For some reason, I decided to look up. When I did, I was awash with the beauty of the stars and the moon. It was a perfectly clear sky and all of those celestial objects just light up the night sky and guided my path. The night was less dark and ominous because of the stars and moon.

Today’s Questions: When you are walking in life, are you looking forward and down? Do you every look up? Is God lighting and guiding your path, or is the world just moving you forward?

Scripture
  • Psalm 119:105 – Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path.
  • John 14:6 – Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
  • Psalm 34:6 – They looked to Him and were radiant. And their faces will never be ashamed.
Reflection

Life is filled with many shiny objects that distract us. We look towards the next “thing” to fill our God-hole or we just move along because we can’t break the cycle. Now is your chance. Follow God’s word. Let it be a lamp for your feet and a light for your path.

Everything that is righteous and good comes from God. When we are walking and things are good, that light is God even if we don’t acknowledge it. When we are walking in darkness and see a light, that is God. Here is the truth. That light is always there. All we have to do is look up to Him to see it. He will wipe away ever tear.

As we close, remember that while the days are getting shorter and the nights longer, God’s light has never been brighter and will guide you until the very end of the age.

Prayer

Lord God, thank you for lighting our path. Help us to break out of the every day and look up. Let us follow you and know that you are the one providing everything that is good, holy and right. Let us always give you the thanks and love you deserve. We pray this in your Son’s name, Amen.
