The Son Shines in the Darkness
October 29 – The Son Will Shine Tomorrow

4:302 – The Son Will Shine Tomorrow

#faithbites #faithjourney shine

Setting

The past couple of days have been dark, dreary, and rainy. It’s hard to get motivated in weather like this. I’m even a bit bummed because of it. Our Trunk or Treat was almost canceled because of it. I know that even though it’s nasty outside but the sun will shine again soon.

We our lives are nasty, gross, and deary, we know that Jesus is always there. The Son will always shine.

Today’s Questions: How do you keep motivated during the down times? How does Jesus shine in your life every day?

Scripture
  • John 8:12 – Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
  • John 12:46 – I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.
  • 1 John 1:5 – This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
Reflection

One of the many things that I love about Christianity, is I don’t have to earn my salvation. There is nothing my works can do to get me in the good graces of God. Through Christ, I am redeemed through faith. I try to think about that when I’m down and not feeling worthy. When we look at our scriptures, we see that Jesus is the light of the world. No one who follows Him will walk in darkness. The Son will shine. Further along in John, we see that He came into this world as Light. Again, if we believe, we will not remain in darkness. The Son will shine. Finally, in 1 John, we see it proclaimed that God is light, and in Him, there is no darkness. The Son will shine.

Another thing I like about the Bible and in some songs is the tenses used. For instance, in Joy to the World, we don’t sing, “Te Lord has come, we sing, “The Lord is come”. This means he is always here, it’s not something in the past but present and future. So while we may feel the darkness and are waiting for the Sun to shine tomorrow, the Son is shining now and forever.

As we close, don’t worry and don’t fret. The light of the world is come for you. He is and always will be with you.

Prayer

Lord God, thank you for sending your Son to be our light in the darkness. We pray that you help us always seek that light, follow that light, and be one with the light. Help us when we are tempted away. Uncover our eyes and open our hearts when all we see or feel is darkness. His light can never be hidden. We pray for this in your Son’s name, Amen.
