It it now time to act
September 20 – Time to Decide
4:263 – Time to Decide

#faithbites #faithjourney decide

Setting

Have you ever had a decision that is just weighing on your mind? I know I have. The feeling of great opportunity but also great reward. The feeling of not know if either decision is the right one. Then you pray, pray, pray, and still have to decide and put it into action. This is something we all experience. The question is after the praying, the thinking, and the contemplating, how do you decide? How do you put it into action?

Today’s Question: Think of one time you had to make a major decision? What did you do? How did you move from thinking about it to deciding, to acting on it?

Scripture:
  • Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
  • Proverbs 13:20 – Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm”
  • James 4:7 – Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Reflection

Our scriptures told us to pray, trust in the Lord, seek guidance from others, and submit to him. This is the way in most things with God. Pray, ask for help, take the help, and act on it. The acting is hard because it feels like when we open one door, we close the other. And yes, decisions are hard. It’s hard to decide between what you know and what you don’t. Is this decision going to help or hurt? In all contemplation there comes a point when there has been enough discussing, enough thinking, enough gathering of information, and then it’s time to act. I’m at the stage, are you?

As we close, remember this. While our decisions made not be perfect, God is on the other side waiting for us. He prepared the place, he knows what we will choose, and he’s made it for us. So don’t fret, don’t worry, God is there.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help us in our decision-making. Sometimes we can be paralyzed by fear. We don’t want to chose because any of the choices can be scary. Help us to move on and make an informed decision by your will and your way. We put all of this in your hands as your people of action. Now we will decide and know you will help us no matter what. In your name, Amen.
