You are valuable

Setting

Sometimes when I look at the artwork that others make, I think mine is trash. I find that I don’t have the skills they have. It can get me down. At work there, there are times when I don’t feel valued because I’m not included or decisions are made that impact me with out my consent. Even when I write #faithbites, I feel sometimes they don’t have value. What I am learning is that I am valuable to God and to others. Some will tell you they find value in your work. Others will admire from afar. You have gifts that God gave you and are valuable to him, to others, and to his plan.

Today’s Questions: What do you do when you don’t feel valued? How can you look at your gifts and abilities in a new light?

Scripture
  • Matthew 10:31 – Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
  • 1 Timothy 4:8 – For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.
  • 1 Peter 1:18-19 – Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
Reflection

Let’s start this reflection off with a simple fact: YOU ARE LOVED AND VALUED BY GOD! There is no question of that. He says we are more valuable than sparrows, more valuable than anything. God gave his Son for us. He tells us that while training our bodies is good, being godly has the most value. This value isn’t just for today but for tomorrow. We are building for future generations on Earth as we fulfill God’s plan.

Sure, I can’t paint like the people I see on the internet, but others say I’m getting better. I am far from being the great American novelist, but people find #faithbites valuable. Our lives, or hobbies, shouldn’t be defined by how much they are worth or how profitable they are. Our lives are measured through God and by his way of living.

As we close, remember two things. First, you have great value no matter what the world says. Second, your skills and way of life are influencing more people than you know that brings with it great value. Keep the faith!

Prayer

Father God, you gave your son for us, you made us as individuals, and told us we are valuable. We ask that you warm our hearts and let us accept that. We are often troubled by the world assigning a value to us that is less than we think it should be. Today, we pray that we forget about what the world says and only listen to you. You are a Good, Good, Father and we love you. In your name, we pray, Amen.
