4:207 – Knowing Where You Stand
#faithbites #faithjourney knowing
Setting
Do you ever wonder where you stand with someone? Are they telling you the truth? Do you have the same expectations? Today I had a conversation that validated my fears and put aside any notion of me standing where I thought I stood with some people. I am heartbroken and beat down a bit, but I will recover. Knowing where I stand makes other decisions much easier. Of course, change is always hard, but as G.I Joe said, “Knowing is half the battle.”
The beautiful thing is we will always know where we stand with God. He is clear, upfront, and provides answers to that question. We don’t have to wear a mask or hide, as he knows us, loves us, and we are his.
Scripture
- Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, – Romans 5:1
- And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. – 2 Corinthians 3:18
- For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:38-39
Reflection
We are made pure through our faith in Jesus, Christ. He died for our sins, making us clean before God. While we’ve discusses Romans 8:38-39 before, it bears repeating: NOTHING YOU DO CAN STOP CHRIST’S LOVE FOR YOU. You are a broken sinner, but a blessed child of God. You stand perfect before him thanks to Christ. He sees his Son when he looks at you. There is nothing we can do to stop that. That is where we stand with him.
Each day, we contemplate God’s glory we get closer to that image of his Son. We learn, grow, and develop in our faith. This is knowing where we stand with our Father. He gave us his Word, his Son, and free will so we could grow through him.
Today I hurt. I have seen what I always knew was the truth but it was made clear. I will recover from this and through my faith, know that God is opening up more doors to me.
As we close, know there is never any deceit from God. He won’t tell you one thing and do another. You never have to question where you stand with him. You are a blessed, loved Child of God.;
Prayer
Lord God, thank you for your love. Thank you for being open and honest with us. We never have to wonder where we stand with you. You have shown us your love. Today we pray that all people would be as open with you. Take away our blinders so we can see your love and know where we stand with your people. Help us to take it all in and act in a way that is pleasing to you. We pray this in your name, Amen.
