4:166 – I’m Easy Like Sunday Morning
#faithbites #faithjourney sunday
Setting
Every Sunday, one of my friends posts, “I’m easy like Sunday morning.” It’s a great song and reflects that Sundays should be an easy day.
Today, I was reflecting on my love and the term easy came up. Not kn how my life has been but in how I am. I’m easy and often a pushover. My mother in law once said the one complaint she had about me was I let people wall all over me. Maybe it’s because I want to feel needed or excepted. Could be because I don’t like conflict and rolling over is easy. Either way, it’s something that bothers me an something I need to work on.
Today’s Questions: Are you a push over? If so, why do you let people treat you like that. If not, how do you balance acceptance and strength?
Scripture
- Luke 6:35 – But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.
- Matthew 10:16 – Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
Reflection
We know God tells us tokve our neighbors. Be tells us to turn the other cheek. He also says that there’s balance in everything. We should be loving and caring but not push overs.
In Like he says to love our enemies and expect nothing in return. The people who wall all over me aren’t my enemies and I don’t expect in return. I give fully and sometimes feel that I’m giving too much. That is where our Matthew verse comes in. Jesus givesus the balance. Be wise as serpents and innocent as doves
We aren’t to attack like a serpent but to use their keen sense of what is going on around us. Even with that,we still need to be innocent and show love. Yo me,this means stand your ground with love and kindness and it let yourself be stepped on.
Like many things, I don’t know the answer. It’s a lifetime process of dealing with each situation rather than letting it build us. It’s reacting in love and. It anger. If there was one area for me to improve in, this is it. But with God’s help, I will get better
As we close, pray for God’s help with this balance. Don’t go too far and be a pushover nor go to the other side and be cold. And if you figure out how, please let me know.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, as always, thank you for teaching us how to live. Tonight we ask you to help us balance how we serve others. Let us be strong and courageous but kind and loving. Let us stand up for ourselves but not shut others out. We know you are the God of creation and nothing is impossible with you. We pray for your help, your love, and your compassion. In your name, Amen.
