4:156 – Back to Normal?
#faithbites #faithjourney normal
Setting
I’m writing this as we are traveling back to normal. Well, actually Bloomington but not all sounds better. We are on day one of the trip back and will get home sometime tomorrow afternoon / evening.
As we were packing up this morning and now driving, I’m wondering what going back to work will be like. Not just the work from home for the past 15 months but going to an office. So many people throughout the pandemic have clamouring to get back to normal.
Today’s Questions are around this. Was our normal routines healthy and good? What can we do to create a new normal that is pleasing to God and to us?
Scripture
- 1 Corinthians 10:31 – So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
- Exodus 15:26 – Saying, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.”
Reflection
As we go into a new routine, what will we do to make it healthy to glorify God? Us working 60+ hours a week a healthy routine? Is being in your phone 24 x 7, healthy?
I had a recent conversation where the person said so many places are hiring but the people are two lazy to work. Then the other person said, it’s not that they are too lazy, it’s they don’t want to work for low wages and be treated like crap.
All of this makes we wonder if we are chasing God or chasing stuff? Are we doing what we do because it’s familiar and we believe we “have to” do it? What would happen if we took this time to really listen to God to learn what be wants us to do? Change is hard but maybe it’s what God wants us to do.
As we close, let’s remember that normal wasn’t good for everyone. All of us can learn and strive to bring more glory to God even if it means changing up our routine and finding a new healthy normal.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, we strive to always bring you glory. As we begin to find new routines and a new normal, help is to create routines that are pleasing to you. Help us not to just go to what was familiar but what is healthier for us and helps us grow closer to you. In your name, Amen.
