May 30 – Go To Church Or the Devil will Get You!
4:150 – Go To church Or The Devil with Get You?

Setting

We were driving down I-65 throw Alabama and I saw the sign in the picture. It was very catchy and I got the meaning, but I couldn’t let it go. Church doesn’t save you from sin or Satan. Jesus is the only one who can save us.

I know people who love the story of Christ and want to learn about him but won’t step into a church. There are many reasons for this. We need to find ways to make sure people know Jesus, even if Church is a nonstarter for now.

Today’s Questions: Can someone have a deep relationship with Christ without church? How can we as servant of Christ share his love with those who may not attend church in a traditional sense?

Scripture
  • Hebrews 10:25 – Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
  • Romans 12:5 – so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
  • Ephesians 4:2 – Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Reflection

Before we talk about the scripture, we have to talk about what church means. The Bible says we need to be in fellowship with one another and that we are all part of one family. It doesn’t say that we have to go to. Big building with a pastor, leaders, and the ceremony of church. While some find that comforting and needed, it’s not necessary to build a relationship with God.

Now, if we don’t go to church, the traditional sense, how to see teach each other of Jesus? How to people know the word of God. This is where we all come together. We need to share this love, bring the word to others, and be in love with one another. We can help people understand Jesus without stepping through a Church door. Some may want to have that formal church upbringing and community that it brings. But we don’t have to.

Ina nutshell, church as a building won’t keep the devil from getting you. Jesus will.

As we close, rember that everyone has a unique #faithjourney with God. It’s up to us to support them in the best way possible.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, tonight we pray that your people will continue to gather in whatever form you desire. Help us to find new ways to share your story no matter the time or place. We pray this in your name, Amen.
