May 17 – Just Hang On. Reinforcements Are Coming
4:137 – Just Hang On. Reinforcements Are Coming

Setting

Most days when I go to write #faithbites, I think about my day or what is going on and start writing. Today was very different. The image of the cat hanging on was in my head. I guess that’s God bringing up what’s going on. Now to the backstory.

I’m not feeling very well today. Been extremely dizzy, heaxhe, and exhausted. I just asked a friend what would happen if I missed a meeting tonight and she said she would cover me and bring me information. In other words, my reinforcements had arrived. I don’t have to do everything myself.

I often serve as reinforcement for others when they are down and out or occupied. Sometimes, like today, I don’t have to hang on long before the reinforcements arrive.

God is the ultimate reinforcement. He shows up when you need him, all you have to do is call. The interesting thing about God is you never know how he will show up. He works in mysterious ways and will never make you hang in for long.

Today’s Questions: When do you call in the reinforcements? How do you hang in until they arrive? When should you have asked God for help earlier?

Scripture

Psalm 121 – I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade on your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
8 The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.

Psalm 34:6 – This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.

Hebrews 13:6 – So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me

Reflection

We all need reinforcements from time to time. Today, as I said before, was hard. Luckily I have friends to help pick up the kids, people to cover at meetings, and my wife to make dinner for us. But where do these reinforcements come from?

All of the people iny life are sent from God. He knows what I need, hears my cries, and offers help. All I have to do is accept it.

If our God gave up his only Son to save us, why wouldn’t he send reinforcements when we need them? All we have to do is just hang in there for a little bit longer.

As we close, remember, help is on its way. Your father has your back and will never let you go. Just ask for it, accept it, and thank him for it.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for always protecting us and answering our prayers. Help us to know that it is ok to ask for help and that you will provide for your people. We love you and thank you for all you are and do for us. In your name, Amen.
