4:111 – Even If It’s KPop, Celebrate The Enjoyment
#faithbites #faithjourney #kpop
Setting
My oldest is obsessed with BTS, which for those not in the know, is a KPop group. And KPop is Korean popular music. She loves it and is getting their merch (yes that’s what the youngin’s call merchandise). She loves it so much that her sister likes it and some of her friends as well. For me, I can’t really stand it. I love lyrics and when they are in Korean, I can’t relate. The thing is, it’s her thing, its’ not hurting anyone, it’s not a sin, so go for it, enjoy it.
Similarly, a friend posted something on Facebook about a “new tradition”, and at first I thought “that’s a thing”, that’s stupid. But then thought, if she likes it, it’s not hurting anyone, go for it and celebrate. We have so much negativity in the world, why rain on someone’s parade if it’s a good thing for them? In a nutshell, let’s celebrate and enjoy what we can.
Today’s Questions: If someone likes something you don’t, does it really hurt you to just let them enjoy it? How hard is it to say, that’s not my thing, but I’m glad you like it?
Scripture
- Mark 12:31 – The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
- Isaiah 66:10 – Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice greatly with her, all you who mourn over her.
- Romans 15:2 – Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.
Reflection
So be it KPop, Gender Reveals, Pineapple on Pizza, or any of a hundred things, why not just let people be. God tells us to support, love, and build up each other. As an individual or as a country, why not rejoice and be glad in everything that God gives us. No reason to rain on someone’s parade. Just rejoice, have fun, and be happy for them.
As we close, today’s an easy one, just have a love for whatever, as long as it’s not sinful, and support them. And no, we don’t have to listen to KPop, 24 x 7 🙂
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for making us all unique and having different things make us happy. We pray that you give us an open heart and patience, even if we don’t like something, to support and celebrate one another. Lord, we also ask that we not only allow us to support someone but also to possibly learn something new about ourselves and new activity. We pray all this in your name, Amen.
