4:86 – The Best Ship – Friendship
#faithbites #faithjourney ship
Setting
Just a quick #faithbites today. I was blessed to have my best friend visit. We celebrated his birthday and just hung out and visited. We could be together and say nothing yet speak volumes. Friendship is the best ship. We use to joke, “Friends help you move. Real friends help you move bodies.” Yes, it’s a morbid joke.
A true friend is someone who knows you inside and out and still loves you for who you are. I’m very blessed.
Today’s Questions: How do you celebrate your best friends? What can you do to steer the ship in the way that is most beneficial to God?
Scripture
- Proverbs 17:17 – A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.
- Proverbs 18:24 – There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.
Reflection
My best friend was telling someone about our relationship and said we’ve been best friends for 26 years. They said that’s not a friendship that’s family. She was correct. We have been through thick and thin, the good time and bad times. He is my brother.
God has blessed us with our family that we are born with and the family we choose. For my family knows.me but my best friend knows me even better. It is up to us to nurture those relationships. I don’t know where I would be without my best friend.
Yes, COVID has made spending time together more difficult. But we need to stick closer than brothers through everything.
As we close, think about your close friends. How can you keep them closer and thank God for bringing them into your life.
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for the blessings of friends and family. If we looked at our friends and how we met, we would think it’s odd. But as we know, it’s not odd, it’s you. You made these relationships a reality. Help us to keep together and lean on our friends as they are a gift from you. In your name, Amen.
