You Are Saved. Start Living

4:48 – Still Waiting To Be Saved?

Setting

This may sound like a pity party or me being selfish. I often want people to do things for me. I would love for someone to say, “Sol, here is the perfect job for you.” Another is someone just dropping off goodies or doing things for me. In a nutshell, I want someone to do something for me so I don’t have to. Like I said, selfish. I apologize for that.

As we enter the Lenten season, we think about this question a lot. Are we still waiting to be saved? Is there going to be a day when we are “saved”? The answers to the questions should be No and No. Why? Our savior has come, he has saved us and we should live in His Grace. We don’t have to wait for a significant day or for someone to come out of the woodwork and be a mysterious benefactor like in Great Expectations.

Todays questions: Can you shout out that you are a saved child of God? Are you ready to act like that rather than waiting for something to happen?

Scripture
  • Romans 10:9 – Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
  • Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • Ephesians 2:8-9 – For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Reflection

In the song Best News Ever by MercyMe, they sing that the work has already been done. As we see in the verses, salvation is free. Because of our faith and God’s grace, we are saved. We don’t have to do anything. No one has to come to free us. We are free. When we acknowledge that then we can act. No one is going to come down and change our lives as Jesus has already done that

What does that mean to us? For me, it means that I should stop waiting for the day when everything will make sense It also means that no one is going to knock on my door and change my life around. By accepting Jesus as my Savior I am saved and through his power, I can act and change things. That is what being a Christian means.

As we close, challenge yourself these next 40 days to do. Move from looking for someone to save you to know you are saved to acting like one who has been saved. It takes work, but with Jesus all things are possible.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for loving us, choosing us, protecting us, and sending your child to do the work for us. We are blessed and love you so much. Lord, we ask for your to protect us and help us walk in your light. Remind us that nothing out there is going to change us, we have to change from the inside through pray and through the work of the Holy Spirit. We love you and give you all the glory. In your name, we pray, Amen.
