4:40 – Live in Love
#faithbites #faithjourney live
Setting
Valentine’s Day is coming us and love is on many people’s mind. I’ve talked about love a lot here and was surprised when I searched for the day and it too was about love. Last night was a bit rough with my youngest. Lots of yelling, fighting, and being mad. While I tried to express love, it’s not always that easy.
We are thankful that we have Jesus who can forgive us when we don’t live in love. At the same time, it’s easy to say, I love all, it’s much harder to do it.
Today’s questions: Are you living in love? If so, how are you doing it? If not, what is God telling you to do to change that?
Scripture
1 John 4:16 – And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
Reflection
Very simple reflection, today. Love is what Jesus is. Love is eternal, through him, and we can’t know love without knowing God. If we say we are “good Christians” but do not love, are we lying? For me, when I say I’m a Christian and a member of the Lutheran church, some look at me and say “the good Lutherans or bad Lutherans”. Others paint all Christians with a proud brush of not loving and saying they love. This isn’t easy. None of this is. To truly love and to live in love, takes a lifetime of working, improving, and getting better at it.
As we close, are you living in love or saying you are living in love? Are you willing to understand what God wants us to do and work towards it? For me, I pray for Jesus’s forgiveness and help as I work towards this.
Prayer
Father God, thank you for loving us even though we don’t deserve it. Thank you, Jesus for forgiving us for everything that we do wrong, We pray that you warm our hearts and help us to love those the way you love us. In your name, Amen.
