3:308 – Faith Above All

Setting

Today is Election day in the United States. So many people are worried about the results. Worried for their future. Some worried about continuing the past and others worried about forging a new future.

These worries are real. I worry about tomorrow. I am trying to let it go as I can’t control tomorrow. I can’t even control today.

I can control my faith in God. He tells me to not be afraid, to trust him, and rely on his promises. It is not easy. Sometimes I feel that by relying on only on faith I’m not doing enough to help others who are less fortunate or who feel they are under attack. I want to do more and hope God directs.me on how to do that.

But at the end of the day, I have to out my faith not in my country or fellow man, but in Christ Jesus.

Scripture
  • Matthew 17:20 – He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
  • Romans 15:132 – May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Reflection

Today I had the pleasure of working with some great people with different beliefs than I working together to ensure democracy is done. Not only that, but we had wonderful conversations about faith, God, and our country. We know that it is a scary world and have no idea what will happen with this election. What we do know is that our faith that is strong enough to move mountains. God takes away all fear and replaces it with peace and understanding.

Fer is there. Worry is there. But God has the power to overcome all. He is the light of the world and will deliver us from all evil.

So when the world is hard, when life is hard, just have faith! God will deliver.

Challenge

How will you respond to today’s election? How will you respond to the world at large? No matter how hard it is, remember our beliefs. Turn it to God. Remember if Jesus conquered the dead, and God created the heavens and the Earth, he can do all things.

Prayer

Father God, be with your nation tonight and the upcoming weeks. We are worried for our future. Lord, we know you have a plan. Help us to understand your plan. Give our faith strong and when we falter, forgive us. You’ve sent your Holy Spirit to build our strength, be with us, and let him lift us out of our worry and concern.

We love you Lord and give you thanks for everything. In your name, Amen.
