3:220 – Prayers For Our Educators

Setting

It’s almost that time again: Back to School. Instead of the normal back to school supply shopping, reminiscing on the end of summer, and excitement about the fall, we have lots of fear, anxiety and trepidation about returning to school.

COVID-19 has rocked our world and the Education system didn’t escape that. This post is not political. Regardless of where you stand on how we are going back, the severity of this disease, or anything, this fall is going to look different.

For today, let us pray for our educators. This includes teachers, staff, administrators, nurses, and everyone involved in the school environment. No decision this coming year is going to be made lightly. No decision will be easy. Right now, let’s turn our Educators over to God for protection, guidance, and support.

Scripture

• Psalm 32:8 – The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you
• 1 Corinthians 12:28 – And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues.
• Exodus 18:20 – Teach them his decrees and instructions, and show them the way they are to live and how they are to behave.

Reflection

Teachers have a special place i. God’s plan. In our society they are charged with so much more than teaching the basic subjects. We ask for their help in life skills, food security, clothing, medical treatment, protection from abuse, and so much more. They are a special and loved profession.

This fall, all educators, need our love and support. There will be decisions you like, decisions you hate, and decisions that you just don’t get.

Remember that God has chosen our teachers. In many cases, our teachers aren’t empowered or responsible for these decisions. They have to implement them and they are doing the best they can to balance personal safety, educating our children, and following guidelines.

We love our teachers!

Challenge

Put aside any judgement on policy or procedures. Put aside any personal agendas. Focus on supporting and loving our educators.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, protect our educators. Wrap them in a hedge of protection. Give them your peace. Help all of us understand the challenging situation they are put in. Let us see it from their perspective. Open our minds and close our mouths when we react. Remind us always the love, passion, and desire to teach these people have.

Lord, we know these are challenging times. Guide us, protect us, and bless our educators. In your name, Amen.
