July26 – I Will Rejoice And Be Glad In It
3:208 – I Will Rejoice And Be Glad In It

#faithbites #faithjourney rejoice

Setting

This morning while I was hosting online worship, the sun was shining into my office. It was warm and comforting. During my walks with Spock, we had a nice breeze and friendly neighbors. Then out of the blue the song/hymn “This is the day” came into my head.

Ok sing with me”

This is the day, this is the day.
That the Lord has made, that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice, we will rejoice,
And be glad in it, and be glad in it.
This is the day that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day, this is the day
That the Lord has made.

Until today, I just sang it and not comprehend it. It’s saying that whatever today brings, God made the day, and we can choose to rejoice in it. It doesn’t mean if it’s a good day let’s rejoice but if it’s a bad day, let’s be grumpy. We are choosing to rejoice in the awesomeness of the Lord.

Are you rejoicing?

Scripture
  • Philipians 4:4 – Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.
  • Nehemiah 8:10 – Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
  • Romans 12:12 – Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
  • Psalm 118:24 – This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Reflection

Not a lot to tease apart here. No matter the circumstances, no matter what is going on, you have a Heavenly Father who loves you. He created you and wants the best for you. You will have trials and tribulations but also job and exultation.

We can make the choice to rejoice in the Lord and call on him to help during our struggles.

Right now, I’m laying on the bed with an ice pack trying to take away a migraine but I am still praying and thanking God for this day. Sometimes you want to curse and burn it all down, but if we focus on Him, we can get through anything.

Are you rejoicing?

Challenge

Take a look at your day. Was it less than perfect? It probably was as we are from perfect. When you look at what went wrong, can you still rejoice in the Lord? Are you willing and able to give Him thanks? That is the challenge for today.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for today and every day. We may not always rejoice like we should but we thank you for it. Let us know that no matter the tribulations we face, you are there. And that fact is enough for us to always be rejoicing. Help us to find the joy in every day. Thank you. In your name, Amen.
