3:162 – Here When You Need Him (Which is Always)

Setting

Do you feel needed and wanted? This could be at work, home, where you play, where you worship, or anywhere. Feeling needed is crucial to who we are as people. We need to feel needed. We need to be part of something. I was recently told that when we need you we need you, other times we don’t.  Without going into too much detail, that is very painful to hear. 

The beautiful thing is, Jesus is there when we need him. We pray and he’s there. We weep and he’s there. No matter what, he’s there for our needs. What we don’t realize is when we think we don’t need him, he’s there too. When things are going great or when we are cloud nine. Jesus is there, he will never leave us.  Jesus isn’t a fairweather friend or someone who uses you for your skills and abilities. He loves you fully, deeply, and truly. 

Scripture

• Matthew 28:20 – Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
• Deuteronomy 31:8 – It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
• Joshua 1:5 – No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you.

Reflection

From the creation of the world through the end of the age, God is there. He will never leave us nor forsake us. Even when we don’t know we need him, he is there. 

Just know that while people may use you and only need you when they need you, God needs you all the time and you need him. God has a plan specific for you, that only you can fill. Know that you are loved and never alone. 

Challenge

Know that God is always with you. He loves you. Do you believe that? Think of times in your life when you didn’t think you needed God. Was he there? Now think of times in your life when you needed God. Was he there?  Share how God is always there with you. 

Prayer

Father God, help us to feel needed and loved at all times. Remind us to love you during the hard and easy times. We know if when we don’t, you are beside us from the beginning until the end. Even when we think we don’t need you, we do need you. We love you and are thankful that you carry us when we think we are alone.  In your name, Amen.
