It's a Conspiracy

3:132 – It’s a Conspiracy

#faithbites #faithjourney conspiracy

Sometimes when I think about what to write in #faithbites, I just google a term. Today I googled “scripture conspiracy theory” and found not only crazy theories about the Bible, but one scripture that specifically calls out conspiracy theories: Isaiah 8:12.

These theories why they seem crazy to some of us, give a sense of empowerment to people. They are not afraid of the randomness and weirdness out there if they see a plan and order. From “Plandemic” to Gates to Murder Hornets to 5G, if there is a shadowy Kabal behind it, then there is a reason. Here’s what is missing: Jesus is the reason. God has a plan for us. When we step away and start giving away our power to these theories and try to look for order that isn’t based in Christ, we lose.

We don’t need to have a conspiracy theory to give us power, we have that through Jesus.

Scripture
  • Isaiah 8:12 – “Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear,  and do not dread it.
  • 1 Kings 17:24 – Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is the truth.”
Reflection

This one required a little digging: https://biblehub.com/commentaries/isaiah/8-12.htm. This is referring to a confederacy that can lead to treason. In this case it was Isreal and Syria against Judah. (The Syro-ephraimitish alliance). In a nutshell, Isiah is saying don’t call something treasonous just because everyone else does. It doesn’t make it that way.

How does this relate to what is going on today? We look for order in things. If someone calls something a conspiracy it could be a conspiracy but it isn’t one just because someone says it is. We need to look beyond the window dressing to see what is going on. Is it dangerous? Is there proof to what is going on? Why is someone saying this and why is someone else calling it a conspiracy?

If we acknowledge God’s word as true, then we know his plan is good. There are false prophets around and those who search to find truth in anything. They look to find answers to their plight in plans of man rather than in Him.

We all need to work together to see what God is saying, rather than rely on our own understandings. So what is truth? Truth is Jesus Christ.

Challenge

Are you share a conspiracy theory? Are you looking for answers in man’s plan rather than God’s? Look to Christ. He will provide the answers and set you free.

Prayer

Father God, we have so many things going on in the world. So much news that tells us one thing or another. So many pieces that just don’t seem to fit into a puzzle that we recognize. In the absence of answers, we try to make our own and fail. Lord, let us look to you. You have given us the best news in Jesus. That is where our answers are. Not in half-truths or false prophets. Let us follow you fully and totally. Be with us as we preach your news. In your name, Amen.
