3:118 – I Doubt It
#faithbites #faithjourney doubt
Doubt is heavy on my mind lately. Doubting politicians, medical reports, friends opinions, and more. It’s a world were so many are doubting the truth.
I doubt often if I’m good enough, if my decisions are right, if I’m doing what I should be doing, and if I’m a good parent and husband.
Then we have faith. Have you ever doubted your faith? Have you cursed God or wondered if it’s all made up? I can say I have but not lately. I’m trying to learn into Jesus to help me through the doubts.
Scripture
- James 1:6 – But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
- Jude 1:22 – And have mercy on those who doubt
- John 20:27 – Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.”
Reflection
We all doubt. Thomas doubted Jesus and he was shown the truth. Jesus didn’t criticize for his unbelief but helped him. Jude tells us to have mercy on those in doubt. James says we should have faith or be tossed in the wind
Will it is hard to know who is telling the truth without a lot of research, we can rest assured that Jesus loves us, forgives us, and saves us.
When you start to doubt, look for something to ground you. Jesus is a cornerstone and will keep us grounded.
Challenge
Are you doubting your decisions? Wondering what way to go. Start at the cornerstone of Jesus. Then build from there. He will never lead you astray.
Prayer
Lord God, help us in our doubt. This world is crazy and getting crazier by the minute. We try to follow our leaders but wonder if they are truthful. We often look for answers to help guide our decision but are floundering at times. Help us follow you and be strong in faith. Push our doubts to the side and grant us your peace. In your name, Amen.
