2:338 – Broken Record
#faithbites #faithjourney record
Wake up at 5:30. Get cleaned up. Make lunches. Get kids ready. Take kids to school. Work. Pick Up Kids. Make Dinner. Clean Up Dinner. Spend a bit of quality time with kids. Put kids to bed. Spend a bit of quality time with spouse. Let spouse go to sleep. Spend a couple minutes of quality time with self. Put self to put. Rinse and repeat. Most days seem like a broken record.
Some people complain that when they go to church, they get the same message over and over. That the pastor’s are stuck on a broken record. I’m starting to feel that way when I write my #faithbites. I often wonder if I wrote about that topic before. In most cases, I have. The reason is simple: the message of the Bible is love, salvation, and forgiveness. Everything revolves around those simple facts.
- We will mess up and need forgiveness
- God loves us no matter what
- Jesus is our savior.
We should take comfort in some things always being the same.
Scripture
- Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. – Hebrews 13:8
- God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? – Number 23:19
- The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. – Isaiah 40:8
- For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. – Romans 11:29
- The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations. – Psalm 33:11
- But you are the same, and your years have no end. – Psalm 102:27
Reflection
Today, I wanted to give you more than the usual 2 or 3 scriptures. It was easy to provide these and many more because it is found throughout the bible. God is eternal. He loves you. He will never leave you. His gifts are irrevocable. His promises are eternal.
Those are pretty strong words. And just like a child who makes the same mistake over and over again needing their parent’s correction; we need to hear his words over and over again.
God loves you. He is for you and not against you. He will never change.
Challenge
In a world where everything changes, rejoice in the knowledge that God doesn’t. He loves you. Bask in that love. Understand that no matter what you do, he will always love you.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us. Thank you for always being with us no matter what happens. Our lives are crazy and some days we don’t know what tomorrow will bring. Thank you for being a constant in our lives. We love that we don’t have to worry if your will change your mind or leave us. You are the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Thank you for your love. In your name, Amen.
