2:313 – That’s What Friends Are For
#faithbites #faithjourney friends
I try to do everything for everyone and often don’t ask for help. Today, I was supposed to take 3 of our scouts for a day of badges at camp. While I was ready to do bbn it, I wasn’t sure if I should because of my back. Call it a God moment, but a good friend volunteered to take them instead, so I could rest.
The funny thing is I was thinking about asking her didn’t want to impose and was going to suck it up. So God intervened. We need to remember that God didn’t want us to do this alone and created mates and friends to share in this life. Our challenge is to remember we can’t do it alone and to take advantage of the people God puts in our lives.
Scripture
- A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” – Proverbs 17:17
- Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.” – Romans 12:10-11
Reflection
This is an easy reflection. We are made to love one another and help each other. Giving of yourself to help each other is the best thing you can do. We can divide our burdens and multiply our successes.
I am very blessed with family and friends. The hard part for all of us is asking for and accepting that help. It is a sign of strength when we reach out for help. God made us to live in peace and fellowship with each other.
Challenge
Ask someone for help. It doesnt have to be a big ask, but make that request. You will be surprised how eager most are to help.
Prayer
Lord, thank you for friends. You made us to live in fellowship with you and each other. Help us to be comfortable in asking for and accepting help. We have to put ourselves out there and that is hard. Give us the strength to risk being hurt for the true reward of friendship. In your name, Amen.
