August 8 – I’m Still Searching and That’s Ok!
2:220 – I’m Still Searching And That’s Ok!

#faithbites #faithjourney searching

Today, I had the privilege of sharing my #faithjourney and my Jewish background with the Women’s Aid group at Church. We talked about everything from growing up in synagogue to today. While I was asked many difficult and deep questions, the one that stuck with me is: Are You At Peace?.

I wasn’t expecting that question. My answer was yes and no. Yes, I’m at peace as I have a personal relationship with God The Father, Jesus Christ, and The Holy Spirit. No, because I have so many questions and wrestle with God everyday. One person said every Christian should be like that. Some took that as me not being confident in my faith.

Faith is on a continuum. Some don’t believe, some believe everything, some are somewhere on in between. Further, some believe because they see, some believe because the do, and some believe because they just are. I believe because t have faith and I search for the truth in everyplace.

Are you still searching?

Scripture
  • For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.John 1:17
  • But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.John 16:13
  • Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.Psalm 25:5
Reflection

Our truth is God. Jesus is the Word and was with God. We see that the law came from God and the truth through Christ. We also see that the Holy Spirit is a speaker of Truth and comes from God. Our final scripture, is near to my heart. Always looking to God my Savior (Jesus) to learn and be taught.

Questioning is part of our faith. Our God is mysterious and loving. We become better servants the more we know. Searching for truth, through truth, is what we are supposed to be. We are to be ware of false prophets (Matthew 7:15).

I will continue to search and question all the days of my life. God will direct me on his path.

Charge

Love God. Search his word. Don’t let others stop you from questioning and learning. Look for Truth while be wary of false prophets. The Holy Spirit will guide you.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for the continued opportunity to share my faith journey. Be will all of us who want to know you, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit better. Guide our quest for knowledge and Truth. Put people and resources in our lives to bring clarity and strengthen our resolve to always follow you. In your name, Amen.
