I am a beautiful human being. I say that not because of my looks or my works, because God mad me who I am and he doesn’t make mistakes.

You may recognize these lyrics from Lady Gaga’s Born This Way. This song basically tells us to respect each other, not to hide who you are, love yourself, and don’t live in regret. Here’s the thing, I am far from perfect. I know I sin, I know I make mistakes, but God made me who I am.

While he makes us perfect, we are born into an imperfect world. A world of sin. That world doesn’t define us, though it tempts us. People may say we are ugly, stupid, ignorant, or a hundred other things. We know that isn’t true. Our sins don’t define us, our love of God does. Let’s not define others by their sins either. Love God, Love People (Matthew 22:37-39)

• For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. – Ephesians 2:10

Reflection

Wonderfully made. Masterpiece. Perfect. These are words that God uses to describe us. There is no ugly, stupid, ignorant, lower class, poor, or any other negative term. We are perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect.

I can’t help but feel joy and elation when I read those words. The world full of hate and sin, may try to say I am a mistake, my beliefs are wrong, my love is wrong, my attitudes are wrong, but God tells me other wise. He reminds me that I do make mistakes and thanks to Jesus am forgiven. But he never says I am bad ,worthless, or not made in his image.

Charge

Do you feel you were made in God’s image? If so, when you look at others, remember they are made in God’s image. We can’t comprehend the face of God, but we know that we are all his children. We are all made in his image and we all make mistakes. Try to look past the surface and the actions and realize, that we are all beautiful and loved by God.

Prayer

Father, thank you. Thank you for giving us all the gift of life and being created in your image. How boring this world would be if we were all the same. Your image is beyond human comprehension. Let us have some of that wisdom as we move past judging each other and onto loving each other. Never let us forget that we are your loved children, no matter where we were born, what we look like, or who our parents were. You are our loving father. In your name, Amen.
