April 12 – The Right Place At The Right Time
2:102 – The Right Place At The Right Time

#faithbites #faithjourney #GodMoments Right

My Physical Therapist Assistant said “Sometimes when things fall into place, it’s hard not to believe in God”. Today was definitely one filled with God Moments.

After a rough morning, I was looking forward to going out to lunch with a friend. I was supposed to leave my office around 11:15 but was delayed and didn’t leave my office until 11:26. On the way there, I saw one of my students. I asked how she was doing and she said not good. She had gone through something traumatic and needed someone to talk to. I walked her where she needed to go and then became a support for her. We talked for a long time about many issues and through many tissues 🙂 Part of the conversation was about homeless people, don’t worry, we will come back to this. God had put me in the right place at the right time.

After we talked, I was well passed the time to meet my friend for lunch. I went to the meeting place but he was already eating so I went somewhere else. I knew I wanted Panda Express, but walked right by it and kept walking. There were two homeless people sitting against a wall. I normally just walk by, but not today. I asked how it was going. The man said “Not so Good”. I said “Not so good”?. He said “No”. I asked him what was going on and he replied he was hungry. I said I didn’t have any money on me. He asked if I had a card. I said yes. I asked what he wanted and he said a Big Mac and Fries. The person next to him asked for a small fry. (We were right next to McDonalds). I went in and bought a Big Mac and two fries, gave it to them, and wished them blessings. I shouldn’t have been there but God put me in the right place at the right time.

Those moments when we do something just a bit different or unplanned, could be when God wants to redirect us for a purpose. We need to listen.

Scripture
  • The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. – Genesis 2:!5
  • The Lord works out everything to its proper end – even the wicked for a day of disaster – Proverbs 16:4
  • But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. – Psalm 33:11
Reflection

I don’t have God’s plan written down in a notebook. Nor do I know what is going to happen next. I do know that God has touched me in many circumstances and placed me in places I wouldn’t normally have been to serve him. From my student who needed comforting and an ear to those people who needed some lunch, he has plans for us.

What makes this all the more crazy, was the day was going pretty poorly before hand. I was very down and just trying to “phone it in” to get out. But then, God has a way of showing you that you are worthwhile, you are needed, and you do have a purpose in his plan. We just need to listen to him.

Charge

Listen to that voice that redirects you. Pay attention to the signs around you. It may be the Holy Spirit redirecting you where and when God needs you. Try to forget about what you were going to do and be open to what may come. Sometimes someone needs a hug or a sandwich and you are the person to give it to them.

Prayer

Gracious Father, thank you for putting me where you needed me. Be with my friend and help her through her day and experience. Give her your strength and let her know she isn’t alone. Be with those without homes, help their neighbors to be generous and help them up. Lord, let us always be ready to listen to your word and go where you need us to be. In your name, Amen.
