September 8 – 1.21 Gigawatts. A Bolt of Lightning
251 – 1.21 Gigawatts. A Bolt of Lightning

#faithbites #faithjourney Lightning

Today is a cloudy, dreary, rainy day in central Illinois. It’s hard to get motivated and have the energy to keep going. When I looked back at this week of #faithbites, many were about getting things done or using the power of God to keep it all together. The one thing these all have in common is energy. You need the energy to be able to do just about anything. When I thought about the amount of energy I need, the only thing that came to mind is 1.21 Gigawatts from Back to the Future. I’m not planning on operating a time-traveling DeLorean but I might as well. As we know, in 1985 that type of energy is more available than in 1955. Back then the only thing that could power that was a bolt of lightning. Some days, I feel that’s exactly what I need to keep moving.

For example, tonight I am driving to Chicago to see a concert and then driving back. I have no idea how that’s going to happen. But you know what….we’ll make it happen.

Scripture on Energy

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted, but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. – Isaiah 40:28-31

Reflection

Needing energy isn’t something just for the sick, the young, or the elderly. We all need that strength and energy to move forward. Our God is one who never gets tired, never is weak, and is always there. He gives you strength. Sometimes, he tells you that you need to sleep. You need to rejuvenate. While that may not seem like the instant 5-hour energy drink you want, he is giving you energy.

So right now, as my eyes are heavy and I’m looking at another 9 hours before bed, I look to the Lord. I see that I need to shut my eyes for a few minutes and regenerate. His spirit is in me and fulfills me. I may grow physically weak and tired over the years but my spirit will always be strong in him.

Charge

Do you need a bolt of lightning? Are you tired? Have you asked the Lord for his strength? He is here and will freely give it to those who believe. You will walk, run, and fly and never be weak.

Lord, help me to be strong. Help me to know when to sleep and when to be active. When to run and when to fly. You are always there for me, help me to remember that.
