209 – Bragging For God
#FaithBites #FaithJourney Bragging
Today was a lazy Saturday morning. My youngest and I went to get bagels at Panera for the family. While there, a man was putting away all of the bagels and pasteries he made during the night. With just a smile, he gave my daughter a cookie shaped like a flip flop. She said thank you and that was that.
We left Panera and was going to get back in the car and saw the man. He was was still smiling and said he shift was over for the day. He said who did do you think made all that food. I said you mean the good food. He joked, saying he didn’t know if it was good. The. He talked about how he was off to Champaign to work all day. I mentioned that was a lot of work and when did he get a nap. Continuing, he said it’s a lot of work but he is blessed. He can go wherever he wants at any time without thinking about it. He said “I’m not bragging about me, I’m bragging about God”.
What an amazing man. He recognized that it wasn’t about him, but that all of this was God’s.
Scripture about Bragging for God
- so that, just as it is written, “LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD.” – 1 Corinthians 1:31
- My soul will make its boast in the LORD; The humble will hear it and rejoice. – Psalm 34:2
Reflection
Most of us in life try not to brag. It’s uncueth and can hurt others feelings. But to brag in the Lord, what an awesome activity. The thing is, the Lord’s gifts aren’t just limited to one person. Everyone has the opportunity to be blessed and share in his riches.
That kind man bragged about God and made our day. I hope that he continues to be blessed and you are blessed by his story.
