January 27 – The Power of A Smile
Today’s lesson is about feelings and simple actions.
This morning I woke up early as I had to work. I was in the bathroom, shaving, getting ready to hop in the shower and there was knock on the door. I wasn’t in a great mood as I didn’t sleep well the night before, was feeling a bit under the weather, and I knew I had to work all day on a Saturday. I thought it was Alice who would cry or complain about something.
I opened the door and Cece was standing there. She smiled at me and said Good Morning Daddy. I said Good Morning Cece. Then she went upstairs. That simple act not only made me smile but erased all the stress, worry, tiredness, everything. She wanted nothing from me. She wanted to greet me and say good morning. That was so powerful and set the tone for a great day.
——
“He will yet fill your mouth with laughter
and your lips with shouts of joy.” – Job 8:21

“Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?”
Let the light of your face shine on us.” – Psalm 4:6
——
As much power and love as Cece has, she is not God. I imagine what power a smile from God has. He is in everything and controls everything. He wants us to shout with joy. He wants his light to shine on us. We need to be ready to see and absorb the light. He is so powerful. His breath is on your tongue and your lips. Use it to brighten someone’s day. Help them to feel joy and find HIM. You don’t need to be perfect. You don’t need to know the bible in and out. You just need to be open to the experience.
