3:218 – Making Decisions Can Be Hard
#faithbites #faithjourney decisions
When we are young many of us want want to grow up and make our own decisions. Then we we are #adulting, we just want to be kids again so we don’t have to make the hard choices life throws at us.
Today, I had several conversations with people about making hard choices. Not life or death choices but choices that can change the direction of our lives. Even when we make a pros and cons list it can be hard to decide. One friend told me that this choice was an Earthly choice but she needed God’s help. All of our choices can be made easier by just dropping all pretense and say, “Jesus, help me.”
We can think and analyze all day but at the end of the day, we need some Divine guidance to help make it. And like we’ve said before, our God never fails to answer us.
Scripture
- Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
- Isaiah 30:21 – And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left
- Jeremiah 33:3 – Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
Reflection
God tells us to ask him for help. He says he will always be behind us, beside us, and in front of us. God tells us he will answer all of our calls and show the way. Sometimes we either get in his way, think we know better, think our problem isn’t important enough to call on him. In each of those situations, we are wrong.
Our Father loves us, wants us to ask for help, and will show us the way. Maybe it’s a direct answer, maybe it’s slamming a door shut, maybe it’s putting a person in our path to help us. Whatever it is, God is there for us. We just need to ask and listen.
Challenge
Are you facing a difficult decision? Are you struggling to make the decision? Have you looked at all the options and nothing is coming to you? Get down on your knees and pray. Just give it to God. He will give you an answer.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, we are all facing challenges in our lives. We don’t have the answers and are needing your guidance. Help us to know that we aren’t weak for turning it over to you. You have told us that you will answer us if we ask. Let us see the signs that you are putting in our lives. Help us to accept whatever you want for our lives and make the best decisions we can. We love you and honor you. Thank you during these trying times. In your name, Amen.
