May 7 – I Want To Be Happy
3:128 – I Want To Be Happy

#faithbites #faithjourney Happy

Today, I want to be happy. I can choose to let the craziness of the world get me down, or I can take a step back and choose to be happy. That doesn’t mean that things won’t get me down, which is ok, I just need to come back at the end. Someone once told me: “If you stop to think, don’t forget to start again.” I think I stopped to think a long time ago and never started again.

Jesus is our Savior wanting the best for us. He wants us to be happy. His gifts of salvation and forgiveness provide that. We just need to be embrace it. The light at the end of the tunnel truly is his light and not an oncoming train.

Scripture
  • John 16:33 – I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
  • Exodus 14:14 – The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
  • Philippians 4:7 – And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Reflection

Jesus is the light of the world, he has overcome darkness, the world, and gives us peace. We can rejoice in his birth, death, and resurrection. Jesus reminds us that following him will be hard (Luke 14:25-33). Yet, those sacrifices will give us eternal life and salvation.

Everything is not sunshine puppy dogs, unicorns, and rainbows. But happiness does exist. We can chose to be happy and celebrate little victories.

When we get to the bottom of everything, there is Christ, and he is Joy.

Challenge

Pick on thing that makes you happy and do it. It can be anything. Just enjoy it and revel in the happiness. Christ earned that for you.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for everything you have given us. You have provide so many things to be happy about. We often forget to be happy, choosing to focus on the negative. Yes, we have to deal with the negative with your help. Likewise, we can experience the joy with you. Thank you for that. Remind us that being happy is good. That you want us to experience life and follow you. We love you and give you the glory, Amen.
