5:72 – Submit in reverance

#faithbites #faithjourney submit

Intro

Today our girl scout troop was blessed to have Pastor David help them earn their My Faith My Promise brownie pin. It was a great time and the girls learned a lot about what a pastor does, their work, and how we show love to each other. He shared Ephesians 5:21 which states, “21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.”.

This verse and others that follow have been widely taken out of context. Pastor David helped the girls understand that in this case, submit means to put others needs ahead of your own. He then explained that reverence means out of awe or love. So Ephesians 5:21 means, Because you love Jesus, put others needs ahead of your own. Or serve others because you love Jesus.

This doesn’t mean you aren’t important nor does it mean that others should take advantage. It means that we saw how Jesus submitted to us by dying on the cross and taking away our sins. We then because of our love for him, will serve others.

This is a powerful message. It goes hand in and with love God and love others. Thank you for sharing this, Pastor David.
