4:292 – What Do you Hope God Does Today?

#faithbites #faithjourney hope

Setting

I was checking my email and saw an email with the subject line, “What do you hope God does today?” It really made me think and made me open the email. The email itself was a solicitation to donate to a local Christian radio station. Their message what that through their music ministry they expose people to Jesus and help spread the word. I agree and love listening to music. That is one way in which God moves people.

Even a couple of hours after reading the email, I still am thinking about it., I’ll leave you the same questions I have.

Today’s Questions: Should I hope that God does something good? Am I worthy to hope for that? So I instead hope that I can serve God the way he wants me to?

Scripture:
  • 1 Peter 5:10 – And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
  • 1 Thessalonians 1:3 – We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Ephesians 1:18 – I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,
Reflection

At night when I pray, I pray for health for friends and family. I thank God for my challenges and my successes. I pray for God to help those I care about and those that need healing. When I think about this opening sentence, it’s more action than I’m used to. I guess I do pray for him to heal hearts and minds. For me, this sentence is more directing God what to do, rather than putting it in his hands to do. I could be completely wrong 🙂

Our verses tell us about hope in Christ. They tell us that we will suffer and be restored. Our works are done through our faith, inspired by Christ and everything we do is based on the hope in Jesus. This is what our faith is. It’s not about someone coming and solving everything, though he did. It’s the belief that our Father loves us, that he will fulfill his promises, and that we have nothing to fear.

As we close, think about how this started. An email asking for money but helping us all focus on our hope for tomorrow through Jesus. We can’t do it alone, nor should we!

Prayer

Father God, you are everything and everywhere. I don’t hope for you to do something tomorrow because I know you are already there. You love us, answer our prayers, and keep us strong. Today we pray for continued guidance that we always rest our hope in you and follow your ways. In your name, Amen.
