4:239 – Knock, Knock!
#faithbites #faithjourney knock
Setting
I was surfing Facebook this morning and a friend shared this picture. It reminded me that our #faithjourney is not a passive journey. We have to work, be active, and do something. It all starts with knocking on God’s door. We do that through prayer, listening, waiting, and prayer. Even in our waiting, we have action. God tells us that if we seek we will find it.
As a person who wants immediate gratification, it’s sometimes hard both to wait and to keep knocking. I just want to knock and have the door opened. Sometimes with God, he makes us wait.
Today’s Questions: Are you being active in your #faithjourney. Has there been a time that you have quite knocking either because it took too long or you didn’t think God would open the door?
Scripture
Matthew 7:7-8 – 7 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
Reflection
God is very clear that those who pray will receive. He tells us to keep on knocking. It is not a one-and-done. We have to pray, listen, act, and repeat. God wants us to commune with him, with each other, and in prayer. So never stop knocking and asking.
As we close, remember to be active in faith, steadfast in prayer, and open to listen to God.
Prayer
Father God, you are truly our father. Let us be your children, and like children, ask when we need things. You will always give us what we need. It may not be what we want but it is what we need. Help us to keep the door open and keep on knocking for you in all circumstances. You have told us that you will answer, and we know this to be true. Let us be steadfast in prayer. In your name, we pray, Amen.
