June 19 – Your Story Is God’s Story
4:170 – Your Story Is God’s Story

#faithbites #faithjourney God’s

Setting

I spent the last 24 hours at camp CILCA with my youngest. Our cabin was dad’s with daughters. Yes, you read that right. 4 days, 5 girls between 4 and 7. Giggles all around.

This morning and this afternoon I had talks with two of the dad’s. One told.me his story about moving to town and how he works for a great organization where the mission of the organization and helping others is more important than the almighty dollars. The other told me his path to ministry to leaving the ministry to construction and to teaching it was an epic story of his life with ups and downs.

Here is the thing. Their story is God’s story. God mad them in his image and his influence is felt theougjt their lives. When we share our own story, we are showing how God influenced it.

Today’s Questions: How do you sahe your story? Is your story your own or do you highlight God’s influence?

Scripture
  • Philemon 1:6 – And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ.
  • 1 Peter 3:15-16 – Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. 16 But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ.
Reflection

Some struggle with sharing their faith. They aren’t sure what verses to share.or how to talk about God in a way that others will understand. Today, let’s flip the script. Instead of focusing on how to share the Word directly, share your story. Because your story is God’s story. It’s not possible, for people of faith, to share it without giving thanks to God..

When we share our story in a kind way, others will be intrigued. They will ask about it, then we can have those deeper faith conversations. When we truly speak from the heart and share God’s story through what he did for us, they will see how strong our God is. And of they don’t, which is possible, it cokdl be that God has other messengers ready to bring his story to them.

As we close, keep sharing your story. Keep making new friends. Be open to listen to others. You never know how God’s story will come through and what impact it will have on those around you.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for the chance to share my story and learn about how you are working in others lives. Lord, we ask you to help us share our story clearly and speak from the heart. We know when we do that, your story will come through loud and clear. We pray this in your name, Amen.
