4:100 – God First, You Second, Me Third
#faithbites #faithjourney first
Setting
Today we were able to watch a live stream of a friend’s wedding. We are so blessed and happy for them. During the message, our former senior pastor, shared God’s plan for relationships and behavior. God first, others second, me third. This may be hard to hear. My order is usually others, God, then myself.
It’s not that I say this for pity or sympathy, but more to relate and share. I know what I have to work on.
Today’s Questions: How do you order God, Others, and yourself? Have made a conscious choice on this order? If not, what will you do to change this?
Scripture
Phillipians 2:5-7 – In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
Reflection
In a nutshell, if we lived by these words, life would be much better. Here is the Sol interpretation.
- Love God
- Be a servant first
- Never think you are better than others
- Be a servant last
Very simple. Love God, serve others always, and never think you are better than others. Remember, Jesus died for us to be free. Let’s always keep that mindset in all we do.
As we close, remember you are in a community where you should love and serve. This is how we should commune together.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, we pray for your blessings on Angela and Thomas. May their days be blessed and wonderful in your eyes. Today, also pray that you help us love you and serve others. We know that when we do, you will take care of everything. We pray this in your name, Amen.
