4:55 – Sing It, Feel It
#faithbites #faithjourney feel
Setting
Today my eldest’s class presented the chapel message for her school. I struggled during the beginning to stay focused watching it online and not multitask. The first song was Lord I Lift Your Name On High, by MercyMe. I started just looking at the words on the screen and wasn’t very engaged. Next, I decided to sing along with it even though I know I sounded stuff and probably looked weird with my headphones singing. What happened next, surprised me, I started to tear up. I’m not sure why, but it was definitely a God moment. Singing it took it from the meh to the real then I began to feel it. From the cross to the grave from the grave to the sky. This is a powerful message.
God gives us his word, his Son, and the Holy Spirit. He meets all our needs. We just need to feel him, have faith, and live it.
Today’s questions: How do you embody his word? What will you do to make sure you feel the power of Jesus and share it?
Scripture
- Colossians 3:16 – Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God..
- James 5:13 – Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.
Reflection
As I write this, I listened to the song again, started singing, and felt the tears well up again. Christ is in me and this is one way to show his love. We sing his praises loud. Maybe it’s as we see in James, that I have been suffering in pain, both mental and physical, and I need to let it out. Prayer and sing for Jesus. Some learn by seeing, some by doing, some by pain, and some by singing it out loud. No matter how much pain you are in, how much suffering you have endured, how much sin you have committed, there is a place at the table for you and love in Christ. It doesn’t matter how foolish others things you may look or even if you think you look foolish. Jesus loves it and you.
As we close, find a song today and sing it out loud for Christ. Say your prayers out loud. Be set free by knowing God Loves You.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, we have heard your promises over and over. No matter how many times we hear them, sometimes we don’t embody them. Lord, help us to sing out, scream out, or whatever we need to do to feel your love, your truth and accept your promises. We love you Lord and thank you for everything you have done for us. Help us to sing and praise you as you want us to praise you. We pray this in your name, Amen.
