Setting

Happy New Year One and All. Welcome to 2021. May God’s peace and mercy be upon you daily. 2020 is gone and time to focus on 2021. What will this year bring for you? How will you start getting closer to your goals and what role will God play in those actions?
Many have asked what will become of #faithbites and if I will keep writing them. Before we dig into that, I wanted to give a quick background. In November 2017, a friend who shared daily Bible verses announced he was leaving Facebook at the end of the year. I told him I would miss them. He challenged me to share them myself. On January 1, 2018, I began sharing scripture and that quickly turned into an outlet for my #faithjourney and the #faithbites you know and love. Nearly 1100 posts later, and we are still going with my #faithjourney.
After listening to your thoughts and praying, I have decided that it’s time to expand #faithbites. But to do that I need your help. More details after our scripture.

Scripture
  • John 14:13-14 – Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
  • Matthew 7:7 – 7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
Reflection

God tells us to make disciples of all nations and to do that we need to share Jesus. What better way than through your own story. When we share, we not only help others but help ourselves understand where we came from and where we are going. In order to truly share and be open, we need help from God and from our friends. We know all things are possible with God. So without further ado, I announce Faithbites Fireside.

Faithbites Fireside will be a podcast series with two focuses. The first focus, “Faithbites Fireside: Your Story”, are conversations where you share what faith means to you. Religion is not the focus, though that may come up, but what faith means to you and how it directs your life. I hope to have people from all walks of life willing to share their faith. Different people respond to different people and by having many share their faith, that one person listening may make a connection. The second, “Faithbites Fireside Chats”, will be similar to the old Faithbites just in audio form. The name Fireside comes from the old FDR Fireside Chats in which President Roosevelt addressed the nation, on many issues to Americans find comfort and confidence in their government. Faithbites Fireside aims to do that. To share the love of God through my story and through your story.

First, I have never done a podcast and have a lot to learn. It may take a while for the first episodes to roll out as I have to learn how to do this from scratch. Second, I ask for interview volunteers to share their stories. Interested? Please let me know. You don’t have to be Christian. I’m looking for people to discuss faith, whatever that means to you.

And yes, I will still do your regular #faithbites, it just may not be every day.

More to come. I wish you all blessings for your 2021.
