3:212 – Life Everlasting
#faithbites #faithjourney life
Last night, Grandpa Bob went to be with the Lord. He was and is loved. His presence will be forever on my heart and in my mind.
It is hard to imagine life without grandpa. While we think about death, the promises Jesus has made to us, keep us strong. He has promised us everlasting life.
So while we are preparing to say goodbye to Grandpa on Saturday, we know he isn’t dead but enjoying everlasting life with our Savior.
Scripture
- John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
- Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord
- 1 John 2:25 – And this is the promise that he made to us—eternal life.
Reflection
Jesus made a promise and he always keeps his promises. God has promised eternal life and it’s a free gift through Jesus. We don’t have to do anything to earn it. If we believe, as Grandpa did, we will have eternal life. It’s that simple.
So while we are sad and miss him, we know he is living with Jesus for ever and ever. We will see him again when our time comes. That is a promise.
Challenge
Are you sad? Are you missing someone who has passed? Take time to think about the promises God has made to us. If we truly believe, then we know the promises will be kept.
Prayer
Father God, we are saddened by the loss of Grandpa Bob. He was a true servant of yours and we know he is with you. Help us to remember your promise of eternal life even though we are sad. Be with his friends and family as we remember his life. You are a God who is with us for now until the end of the age in life and in death. Help us always to life in faith and know we will see grandpa again. In your name, Amen.
