Waiting is hard
May 14 – Can I Have My Reward Please?
3:135 – Can I Have My Reward Please?

#faithbites #faithjourney reward

My daughter saw an L.O.L OMG doll in our closet. It was on sale after Christmas, so we got it, to have it as a ready present when needed. She went into the closet and saw it. Since then she has wanted it. We told her she could have it after she was done with school for the year. After many days of bartering, and finishing her main tasks for for her report card, she got it this afternoon. She is now playing in her room with her dolls.

I don’t know about you, but many days, I just want my reward. I want to buy something, be given something, or have something. An at-a-boy or at-a-girl is nice. Seeing that gift, reward, present, whatever you want to call it is amazing. While we want our reward, we have to be careful of trying to fill out GodHole with stuff that isn’t God.

It’s not easy, but let’s remember that while we can treat ourselves, our true reward for a life of faith is being with our Father through Jesus Christ.

But man…I want something now 🙂

Scripture
  • Revelation 22:12 – “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay everyone for what he has done.”
  • James 1:12 – Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
  • Ephesians 6:8 – Knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.
Reflection

Let’s face it. We as Christians believe that all riches will be given to us in Heaven. That eternal life with our savior is our reward. Our scripture verses show us the richness of life through Christ.

The words that we are missing are patience and balance. Patience in getting what we need and want through Christ. Balance in knowing that those rewards will be what we want. It’s hard for sure. For instance, all I want is a 3D printer right now. I can go buy one but what does that do for my budget? What would I do after I got it?

Without rambling on too much, know that your reward is coming. You will get everything that you deserve in Christ. It just takes time.

Challenge

What do you want right now? What one thing would fill your up? Now imagine you have it. How do you feel? How do you feel a day or week from now? Are you in the same boat as now? Then it probably wasn’t what you really wanted. Look to God for his reward. His actions will amaze you.

Prayer

Lord, grant us patience. We are so very blessed with everything you have done for us. Often times, we want our rewards and want it now. It gives us something to look forward too but when it’s too far away, it doesn’t seem real. We know your love and rewards are real and worth the wait. Calm our hearts, calm our desires. Let us focus not on what we can get, but how we can serve you. In your name, Amen
