Apr 24 – Depression Sucks
3:115 – Depression Sucks

#faithbites #faithjourney depression

We all feel down sometimes. Depression is different. It’s the feeling that no matter how good things are, it doesn’t take the pain away. No amount of sweets, vices, exercise, or anything takes it away. The worst part is when you know you are blessed beyond means and you still feel down and it makes it worse. That is what depression is.

Now, I’ve had depression my whole life. For many, this shelter in place is bringing it out for the first time. Know that you are not alone. This is temporary for most of you. For others, it could be a new normal. Know that help is available in the form of the Lord and professional help.

Scripture
  • Psalm 32:10 – Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.
  • Matthew 11:28 – Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Reflection

Our God is before us, behind us, and with is. He surrounds us with his love. He gives us rest. It’s out duty and challenge to turn it over to Him. Our faith will be rewarded in him.

While we know God will protect us, we can also use what he has taught us to help each other today. Be kind. Listen to each other. Understand that everyone is going through this situation differently. Even the strongest of us are suffering in different ways.

Challenge

Reach out for help. You are loved and not alone. This may be temporary or not. There is no shame in asking for help. The Lord has put his servants into place to help. Take him up on it.

Prayer

Lord, help us through this challenge. Give us your help. Allow us to heal mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We want to be your servants and want to healed. Let your healing hands rest on all of us. In your name, Amen.
