Note to self: I am NOT God
Apr 22 – Thank God, I’m Not
3:113 – Thank God, I’m Not

#faithbites #faithjourney God

How would you finish that opening statement? What word do you think is missing there? The word for me is God. Thank God, I’m Not God. If the past two days has shown me anything, it’s that I don’t have the patience, the forgiveness, the unfiltered love, or the ability to understand everything that God does. I would make a pretty terrible God. But, I wasn’t chosen for that.

I am broken, sinful, and a mess. That doesn’t stop God from using me. We know he uses broken people all the time.

I thank God for giving us Christ. For having a purpose for all of us and being the father we need, even when we don’t deserve him.

Scripture
  • Isaiah 45:5 – I am the Lord; there is no other God. I have equipped you for battle, though you don’t even know me,
  • Psalm 86:10 – For you are great and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God.
Reflection

Let’s face it. There is one God and we are far from being God. We shouldn’t try to hold ourselves to perfection as we are not perfect. We make mistakes everyday. Today was really bad for me. I failed in sharing God’s love and being a person of peace. But I know that I have a Father who will forgive me.

Everyday, God performs wonderful deeds in my life. He does it in your life. We need to remember God loves us, Jesus forgives us, and the Holy Spirit empowers us. If we were God or perfect, we wouldn’t need any of those. Yes, we were created by the Father, he sent his Son to bridge the gap, and a helper to be with us daily.

Give thanks for not being God. Give thanks for being in his family, forgiven, and loved.

Challenge

Whether you need to just let it go or you need to take a step back, do it. There is no judgement. You are not God. You don’t need to carry the world on your shoulders. Take time to thank God for his awesomeness and love.

Prayer

Father God, I apologize for my behavior today. I apologize for not living the way you want me to. Be with all of us and grant us your peace. Remind us to just turn it over to you. While we aren’t perfect, we can try to follow you as much as we can. When we don’t, we need to ask for forgiveness and accept your peace. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen.
