3:104 – Returning To Normal
#faithbites #faithjourney #covid-19 normal
Many are asking when will we return to normal? When will this shelter in place end? How do we get back into the old routine?
I want to throw this out there: What if we don’t go back to the way it was? What if we come up with a new normal?
Imagine, spending more time with family and less time on the go? Think about how much less pollution there is without all the cars on the road. Postulate the deeper relationships you could build with more time. Last, but certainly not least, how much deeper can your relationship with the Risen Lord be?
These aren’t easy questions to answer. The unknown is scary. But what if we focused on the best of the old and the new to create a new healthier normal?
Scripture
- It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. – Galatians 5:1
- “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:18-19
Reflection
Yesterday was Easter Sunday. We saw Jesus conquer death and begin a new thing. We too can begin a new thing. No need to not rush back into what was familiar. Taking in the time of slavery for normalcy is still slavery. We will have a chance once the Great Pause is over to find a new normal.
It will be scary and nerve wracking for some. We will have doubters like Thomas, we will have traitors like Judas, and we will have those who follow the status quo.
Jesus bought us ever lasting life. Let’s not waste it I’m hurrying back to what we know. Let’s savor it and create something better. Something that is more in line with His desires and wishes for us.
Challenge
What does your return to normalcy look like? Are you ready to fight to keep what you have now and create a new future? If so, fight with us and share.
Prayer
Lord God, our airwaves are filled with people talking about “opening back up_ and “getting back to normal”. We know that you weren’t pleased by the lives we were leading because we weren’t pleased with them. Help us to trust your will, your way, and your timing as we create a new tomorrow with our eyes focused on you. Thank you Lord. Amen.
