Feb 16 – Come As You Are
3:47 – Come As You Are

#faithbites #faithjourney come

Today, we sold Girl Scout Cookies at church. A friend as what the dress code was. I said while some dress up, it’s definitely a “come as you are” church.

That got me to thinking. “Come as you are”, doesn’t just apply to what you are wearing, it’s where you are at in your life and your relationship with God.

You don’t need to be perfect or even close, to be loved by God. He wants you just the way you are.

Scripture

“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. – Isaiah 55:1-3

Reflection

In one passage, we sum up who is welcome in God’s house: those who are hungry and thirsty. It do any say those who have money to pay for food or drink, but all.

Let me say this again: Everyone who wants to be saved and forgiven is welcome. Not just those who obey first..but all.

So never think you are underdressed (physically, mentally, or spiritually) for Jesus. He wants all to come to the table.

Come as you are, leave redeemed.

Challenge

Be kind to yourself. Don’t think you have to be a certain way, believe a certain way, or act a certain way to enter the family of Christ. All it takes initially is a belief in him. From there, you will want to change, not because it earns salvation, but you see everything that Jesus and our father gives. You will want to improve.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank you for accepting all of your children no matter where they start. Remind us that you love us all. Help us to know your door is open no matter where we are. We know that through invitation and challenge we want to be better. We come as we are and we leave redeemed. Thank you for your Grace and love. Amen.
